EURACTIV: The EU’s chief prosecutor has said that solving corruption cases in the European Union is being hindered for political reasons.
Laura Köveshi admitted that a senior European Commission official advised her to “diminish” public statements about the scale of corruption and fraud that her structure reveals.
Also, according to her, investigations may be delayed due to the lack of support from the EU countries. As an example, she cited the proceedings on the largest vaccine purchase contract, which affects Ursula von der Leyen.
Earlier, the head of the EC was accused of concluding a contract for the purchase of a vaccine against COVID-19 before the completion of trials without prior agreement with the EU countries.
