In the village of Geri in the Nicosia region, a new case of foot-and-mouth disease was detected on a sheep and goat farm. This was reported by local authorities.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the total number of infected animals has reached 725, the number of affected farms is 45. Senior veterinary officer Sotiria Georgiadou said all reports of animals being moved were being checked. On the same day, operations continued in Livadia to destroy infected livestock. As part of the fight against the outbreak, about 22,600 sheep and goats and 1,500 cattle have already been destroyed. Vaccination rates reached 98% among cattle and 72% among sheep and goats. Additionally, revaccination with booster doses was started.
