President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides presented a package of measures to support households and enterprises

The government’s efforts are aimed at overcoming the consequences of the crisis in the Middle East. The measures affect all sectors of the economy. Their list is published by Philenews.

1. reducing the VAT rate for electricity from May 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 to 5% for all household consumers.

 

2. reduction in motor fuel excise tax for the period April to June 2026 by 8.33 cents per litre.

 

3. zero VAT rate on meat, poultry and fish from April 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026. These goods, already subject to a zero VAT rate, include fruits and vegetables.

 

4. Refusal to introduce a “green tax” on fuel, which would increase its cost by 9 cents per liter.

 

5. Subsidies in the amount of 30% of the salaries of employees of the hotel sector, accommodation facilities and tourist facilities, which will work during the entire period from 1 to 30 April 2026.

 

6. Development of a plan for further support of airlines to ensure uninterrupted communication of Cyprus with important tourist destinations.

 

7. Subsidizing the purchase of fertilizers for farmers in the amount of 15% of the cost, for April and May.

 

8. Subsidizing farmers for other agricultural costs in the amount of 15% of the purchase price, for April and May.
