Russia’s first robotic drilling rig launched in Eastern Siberia

At the Chonskaya group of fields in Eastern Siberia, the country’s first robotic well construction complex was put into operation. Previously, such solutions were mainly used on the sea shelf.

The complex performs key operations without human intervention. He himself collects and disassembles drilling and casing strings, and also performs their lowering and lifting. This speeds up the construction of wells by about a third and reduces the share of heavy manual labor, which directly affects safety at the site.

The equipment is mobile and versatile and can be integrated into different rigs. In 2026, it is planned to expand the project: they want to equip 6 more drilling complexes at fields in Western and Eastern Siberia with robotic complexes.
