On June 24, Cyprus will host a 24-hour nationwide strike by hourly government workers, which will affect the work of rescue services on beaches throughout the island.

The Interior Ministry has warned that many beaches will lack life-saving coverings and urged residents and tourists to take extra care when swimming and practicing water sports.

In addition, museums, archaeological sites and ancient monuments will be closed on the day of the strike. The protest was organized by the SEK, PO and DEOK trade unions, demanding higher wages and better working conditions for public sector workers.
