96 laps in 96 hours
The anniversary launch of Biotropica 2026 has made history. 49-year—old Vera Chekalina surpassed the achievement of British Sarah Perry and set a new women’s world record – 96 laps in 96 hours. This is 643.2 kilometers of continuous running, fighting sleep, fatigue and myself.
The record holder hails from Khabarovsk and now lives in Moscow. She has won the Russian championship in 24-hour running, and won the most difficult ultratrails, including the winter “Valhalla 100 miles” and the mountain ultratrail in Dagestan (120 km). She also held the previous Russian record in the backyard (64 laps), which she set in September 2025.
