The Republic of Cyprus is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Venezuela through the EU after two strong earthquakes that caused serious damage to the country. This was announced on June 25 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

What happened in Venezuela?

On the evening of June 24, the north of the country was shaken by two powerful tremors — magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, with an interval of less than a minute. The epicenters were located near the city of Moron on the Caribbean coast, about 160 km west of Caracas. These are some of the strongest earthquakes in the country in more than a hundred years. According to Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, at least 164 people were killed, about a thousand were injured, and many remain under the rubble.
