Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, ironically commented on the information that the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has access to an air conditioner in the workplace, unlike other employees of the building.

“They work much harder on the upper floors of the European Commission building, so, of course, they are given the right to air conditioners, unlike the maintenance staff on the lower floors,” Dmitriev said on the social network X.

Earlier, Politico reported, citing an employee notification, that the air conditioning system was turned off on Friday at the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels from the first to the seventh floor due to extreme heat. At the same time, this restriction did not affect the floors where von der Leyen and a number of commissioners work. According to the newspaper, von der Leyen’s office is located on the 13th floor, and most of the commissioners occupy the eighth and higher floors of the building. The publication notes that the staff of the European Commission compared the current situation with “feudalism” and described it as a “disgrace.”
