Three Swedes arrested for beating a man in Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa, Cyprus – A 47-year-old man is in serious but stable condition after police reported that he was allegedly attacked by a group of unknown assailants early Sunday morning. He was found injured on a street in Ayia Napa around 6 a.m. after police received information about the incident.

Medical care

 

At first, the man was taken to Famagusta Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with a cerebral hemorrhage and a fracture of the base of the skull.

 

Due to the severity of his injuries, he was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.

 

Police investigation

 

Police said they had received statements indicating that a 47-year-old man had been attacked by a group of unidentified individuals.

Three 18-year—old tourists – of Albanian, Chilean and Iraqi origin, traveling on Swedish passports — were supposed to leave Cyprus this afternoon, but the police detained them in connection with the infliction of grievous bodily harm to a man in Ayia Napa.
