The layoffs at LDz Cargo will begin on August 1. According to local media, in the first quarter of this year, the volume of its cargo transportation fell by 18%, and Latvia’s budget revenues from cargo transit — from 14% to 3%.

An employee of the company, on condition of anonymity, told RT that the situation there had been deteriorating for a long time.

“At first, the employees were promised that they would have to be patient for a while. “We won’t be lost without Russia,” the bosses said. They hoped to conclude other agreements, but nothing came of it, the situation did not get any better,” the source said.

According to him, after the introduction of sanctions against Russia, people’s salaries fell due to the fact that they were deprived of part-time jobs. Employees have been receiving salaries for three years, and there are no bonuses either. He added that those who agreed to move to another position with an even lower salary managed to avoid a reduction.
