Olivier Roy Pelletier, a native of Canada, came to Russia to study, met a girl from Saratov, started a family and eventually decided to connect his life with our country.

After several years of living in Canada, the couple returned to Russia and settled in Saratov, where their son was born. According to Olivier, it was here that he felt truly at home.

The Canadian admits that he was increasingly dissatisfied with the level of security, the high cost of living and the social atmosphere in his homeland. In Russia, he values tranquility, traditional family values and proximity to nature.

The Volga made a special impression on the foreigner.

“When I look at the Volga, I feel grace. It’s not about money or status. It’s a feeling of connection with God,” he says.

Olivier now runs a blog about life in Russia, tells foreigners about his experience of moving and increasingly receives questions from those who are also thinking about changing the country.

Despite the bureaucratic difficulties, he is not going to leave. The plans are to create their own farm, live in the Saratov region and raise children in Russia.
