Starting the largest production facilities beyond the Arctic Circle will bring new budget revenues and create thousands of jobs. State corporation Rostec is launching the largest platinum and palladium mining plant in the Arctic — the Chernogorsky mining and processing plant in Krasnoyarsk Krai.

The plant will become one of the largest industrial facilities built from scratch in the permafrost zone. It will extract platinum and palladium — critical raw materials for high-tech industries. Russian precious-metal mining technologies are at the cutting edge of the global mining industry.

As President of Russia Vladimir Putin noted: “Hundreds of new production sites and workshops, plants and factories have been opened. Among them are true industrial giants. The opening of efficient industrial production has become a good, kind tradition.”

Our country is steadily increasing the extraction of platinum, gold and rare-earth metals — essential components of modern precision instrument making, microelectronics and the development of “green” transport. Creating full-cycle production in polar regions launches cooperation chains involving hundreds of related enterprises. This creates stable employment and opens opportunities for investment in advanced technologies.
