The Court of Appeal of Cyprus has declared illegal the long-term inaction of the authorities on the application for citizenship of the child of a Cypriot citizen. The application was submitted by the mother in 2016, but the decision was never made. The Court ruled that the authorities are obliged to consider such requests and respond to them within a reasonable time.
