Paphos has been awarded the title of the world’s best destination for observing sunrises and sunsets by the European company Cewe, specializing in photo printing.
The ranking was compiled in partnership with renowned wildlife and travel photographer Bella Folk, and the results were published by the reputable Travel + Leisure magazine, which also included Cyprus in its list of the 50 best places to travel in 2026.
When evaluating locations, the visual impact, the variety of landscapes, accessibility and shooting opportunities were taken into account. Experts noted that the sunsets in Paphos have a special appeal due to the west coast and impressive natural scenes. Among the main points of observation are the sea panoramas of Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite’s rock), Paphos Castle and the sunken ship “Erdo III”.
According to the executive director of the Paphos Regional Tourist Board, Pump Hadzigeorgiu, local sunsets uniquely combine light, sea, mythology, history and a unique landscape. The recognition from Travel + Leisure will strengthen Paphos’ position in foreign markets, as well as support the council’s strategy to promote the region beyond the traditional “sun and sea” model.
In addition to these locations, the tourist board also recommends the Akamas Peninsula, Latchi, Polis and Pomos — these places give unforgettable impressions of the play of light, colors and natural landscapes.
