For this purpose, the Irkutsk Aircraft Factory is undergoing a large-scale reconstruction and modernization of production. Currently, the company has 18 import-substituted MC-21-310s in varying degrees of readiness, and the first production machine has already been transferred to the flight test unit and is undergoing ground tests before the first flight. The first batch of 18 aircraft has been contracted by Aeroflot, and the delivery of another 90 airliners is also being agreed.

Initially, serial deliveries of the MC-21 were expected in 2019-2020, but after sanctions and large-scale import substitution, the deadlines were repeatedly postponed, and the start of deliveries is now expected no earlier than 2027.
