The first multimodal hub will be built in Limassol:

parking, electric charging and a recreation area in one place

Limassol Municipality has held a public presentation of a preliminary project for the creation of a modern multimodal transport hub on a Turkish Cypriot land plot along Spilion Street.

The event took place at the Panos Solomonidis Cultural Center, where residents were able to familiarize themselves with the plans, ask questions and make suggestions during the discussion stage.

The main goal of the initiative is to reduce traffic congestion, reduce harmful emissions and reduce the use of personal cars by organizing intercept parking on the Park & Ride principle. The new hub will connect urban public transport, electric vehicles and micromobility facilities into a single network, providing quick access to the Limassol city center without the need to enter by car.

City buses, public bicycles, carsharing and taxi services will be integrated on the territory of the hub. Waiting rooms, sanitary rooms, cafes and electric vehicle charging stations are provided for the convenience of passengers. At the same time, the space will not be limited to the transport function — there will also be a playground, outdoor exercise equipment, shaded recreation areas and extensive green spaces, which will turn the former technical site into a full-fledged public space for local residents.
