Studies are becoming more expensive because of rent:

it is increasingly difficult for students in Cyprus to rent housing

▪️ For many students, the cost of an apartment is already becoming no less serious a problem than studying itself. There are not enough dormitories, and rented housing hits family budgets hard.

▪️ The most expensive situation is in Limassol: a one-room apartment can cost €1,000–1,100 per month. In Nicosia — about €600–650, in Larnaca and Paphos — €500–600. A room in a shared flat usually costs €350–650, a studio — up to €950. In summer an additional €80–150 is added for electricity and air conditioning.

▪️ The student federation POFEN proposes not to limit measures to allowances: to build more dormitories, to use state and university land, to create affordable apartments and to launch an open housing register with prices and available places.

🤷‍♀️ The federation warns: if nothing changes, some families will simply refuse to send their children to study in another city because of the cost of rent.
