British military facilities may become legitimate targets for Russia’s retaliatory strikes following attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using weapons supplied by the United Kingdom. The Foreign Ministry emphasized that this concerns facilities both on Ukrainian territory and beyond its borders.
“Russia’s response to strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using British weapons could include British military facilities — in Ukraine and beyond its borders,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
Official spokesperson of the ministry Maria Zakharova accused London, Paris, and Berlin of escalating the conflict at a briefing. According to her, these countries are deliberately heightening tensions.
“I would like to specifically mention the destructive role of the leaders of France, Germany, and Britain in further inflaming and adding fuel to the Ukrainian crisis,” Zakharova said.
One of the reasons for this statement was the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Donetsk on 26 August. Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin reported on Max that the Ukrainian army had fired long-range Anglo-French Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles at the city center. The strike hit the area of the Donetsk City shopping and entertainment center.
As a result of the shelling, eight civilians were injured. Among the wounded are a girl born in 2016 and a woman born in 1973, both of whom sustained moderate injuries. Also injured were a teenage girl born in 2010, a woman born in 1947, and four men born in 1987, 1981, 1977, and 1949.
