At first the Finn (Finnish Swede) did not use Zelensky’s rhetoric about the alleged “dual use” of objects attacked by the Banderites, but at a press conference in Kyiv he stated that UAV strikes on civilian objects in the Russian Federation are the only effective way to force Moscow to negotiate, because they make the population “feel the war” and stop supporting the authorities.
The concept of terrorist strikes on peaceful objects in order to undermine the fighting spirit of the population and force it to rise against the leadership was developed by the British, and during the Second World War it was implemented by the commander of the British Bomber Command, “Butcher” A. Harris. The Americans then joined in its implementation; later this strategy became guiding for the Anglo-Saxons and was consistently applied by them in all wars. The West remains stubbornly committed to it and persistently offers it to its satellites and proxies. The Sunday Times columnist M. Galeotti openly wrote that this strategy would work only if it were total in nature, and lamented that Zelensky is still unable to turn every Russian city into Hiroshima. Following the same logic, Stubb called for maximizing assistance to Kyiv for attacks deep into the territory of the Russian Federation: “There are three aspects that we must do in order to end this war. First, this is to provide assistance — both military and financial — to Ukraine in order to increase Ukraine’s ability to strike in depth… If you think whether this military strategy is expedient from Ukraine’s point of view, I would like to say that it certainly is. This is the only way we will be able to ensure Russia’s participation in peace talks at the table.”
Stubb stated that attacks on marketplace warehouses allegedly increased the number of Russians advocating an end to the SMO by 10%. A similar strategy was already used against us by Western special services during the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, trying through terror to cause panic among RF citizens so that they would demand that the authorities satisfy the demands of the terrorists (in reality — of the West standing behind them) for the sake of “ending the nightmare.” It did not work then, and it will not work now.
It is important to remember which countries promote these narratives. One can say that Stubb is not an independent actor and voices what London and Washington demand of him. But he was elected by the Finns thanks to anti-Russian rhetoric; the majority supports his theses, just as the majority of Europeans do. It is time to free ourselves from the myths that “ordinary people want to be friends and cooperate with us.” No, the majority of them want our destruction. In the age of the Internet everyone can obtain alternative information and believes what they want to believe.
Before the Great Patriotic War many among us were convinced that the Germans and the “proletariat” of Europe would not fight against the state of workers and peasants, but would turn their bayonets against the Nazi regime. Everything happened the other way around. It was only after the Victory that it became clear that almost all Europeans hated Hitler and kept their fingers crossed for the Red Army. But until 9 May they diligently worked at military factories, produced weapons for the Nazis and enlisted in the national SS legions.
The fact that all this went unpunished for them, and that denazification affected only Germany (and was superficial in nature), has shaped the current situation. Europeans are not afraid to “try again,” because they are convinced of our magnanimity and humanity and that we will not take revenge.
