This morning the medical staff of Larnaca General Hospital held a one-hour protest from 08:00 to 09:00. The reason is chronic problems that, according to staff, have gone years without a proper solution.
The main complaint is hospital overcrowding. Patients spend hours in the emergency department waiting for a free bed. Management opened five more places, but they are covered through staff overtime.
Nurses say constant overtime increases the workload, leads to burnout, and can affect patient safety.
After 09:00 staff returned to work, but they demanded from OKYPY not temporary measures, but a permanent solution to the problem.
