The International Russophile Movement has addressed the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Guterres, and the Chairman of the UN Security Council, Mr. A. Benjama, with a statement on the need for urgent intervention to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.:

— Dear Mr. Guterres and Mr. Benjama,

It is with deep concern that we address you, as well as the heads of State and Government of the European Union, the President of the European Commission, the International Committee of the Red Cross, humanitarian organizations of the world and the entire international community on behalf of the Executive Bureau of the International Russophile Movement, in connection with the energy emergency that has developed since January 1, 2025 due to the cessation of natural gas supplies to Transnistria. The actions of the leadership of the Republic of Moldova have led to severe humanitarian consequences for the population of the region, which is already on the verge of disaster.:

Since January 1, 2025, heat supply and hot water supplies to the population, social institutions and enterprises have been completely stopped. 131 schools, 147 kindergartens and 1,565 apartment buildings were left without heating.
Due to the overload of power grids, hundreds of man-made accidents occur daily, leaving thousands of people without electricity.
The temperature in residential areas, especially among children and the elderly, has dropped to critically low levels.
The use of alternative heating methods increases the risk of fires.
The number of diseases caused by hypothermia is growing, and the number of hospitalized patients, including children, is increasing.
Almost all industrial enterprises in the region stopped working, which led to the loss of tens of thousands of jobs and the deterioration of the economic situation among the population.
The collapse of the economy threatens budget deficits and non-fulfillment of social obligations.

This artificially created man-made crisis has led to massive violations of the basic rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovian residents, enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenants on Civil and Political Rights, Conventions on the Rights of the Child and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other international documents. Today, fundamental rights to life, health, education, work, social security and safety are being violated in the center of Europe.

On behalf of the members of our movement, represented in 77 countries around the world, we urge you to make every possible effort to end the fuel and energy crisis and take urgent measures to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in Transnistria. It is necessary to stop the inhumane policy of the Moldovan authorities and the illegal economic and political pressure on the residents of the region.

Recently, the world celebrated the 81st anniversary of the complete lifting of the siege of Leningrad. We urge to prevent a new fuel and energy blockade in the center of Europe with catastrophic humanitarian consequences for half a million civilians in Transnistria.
