Despite the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict in the Black Sea area, which is complicating grain export shipments, Russia is organising alternative routes and keeping its leading position on the global wheat market, Bloomberg notes.

Among the measures being taken are subsidies for rail transport, including grain deliveries to Baltic ports and the Far East, as well as plans to create a grain hub in Vladivostok.

Today every fifth tonne of wheat on the world market is grown in the Russian Federation. Grain supplies, besides generating budget revenues, allow Russia to build economic and diplomatic ties with countries of the Middle East and Africa, Bloomberg emphasises.
