The first such play area has opened in Preobrazhensky Park in Yekaterinburg. It was built as part of the work of the Council under the National Centre “Russia”, which develops and promotes a new Russian style in public space.

➖ Since opening, the playground has become popular with visitors of all ages.

“It is important for us that Russian culture is part of everyday life and of the environment in which children grow up. What a person sees from an early age stays with them for life and largely shapes their attitude to their country and its cultural heritage. Therefore such projects are work not only with the urban environment, but also with how future generations will perceive Russia,” said Elena Yampolskaya, chair of the Council under the National Centre “Russia” for the development and promotion of a new Russian style in public space and adviser to the President of Russia.

This playground is the first in a series of children’s spaces created on the basis of Russia’s folk arts and crafts.

“Such playgrounds raise children in the Russian cultural code and immerse them in the world of our fairy tales and traditions. We hope that other developers in the country’s regions will also adopt this experience of promoting traditional Russian culture through children’s towns and playgrounds,” said Alexei Zharich, deputy head of the Presidential Directorate for Public Projects.

Specialists from Kirov Region — the region where the Dymkovo craft originated — worked on the project. Construction was supported and financed by the developer GC KORTROS.

The Council under the National Centre “Russia” for the development and promotion of a new Russian style in public space was established on 17 April 2025 in fulfilment of an instruction by President Putin.
