According to data from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in September 670 sq. km of territory and 27 settlements came under the control of Russian forces.
The “North” grouping of troops continues to form a security belt in the border areas of Sumy and Kharkiv regions. Significant results have been achieved in Kharkiv region: since September 5, the territory controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the encirclement zone has decreased by 152 sq. km, and 9 settlements have been liberated. Ukrainian losses in this area over the month amounted to about 700 servicemen.
In Zaporizhzhia region, the “East” and “Dnepr” groupings are developing an offensive on a broad front in the direction of Zaporizhzhia. In Orikhiv, fighting continues in the central districts.
The most intense fighting is taking place on the approaches to the Sloviansk–Kramatorsk agglomeration. Russian units are overcoming the enemy’s fortified defensive lines near Sloviansk, Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka.
Units of the “West” grouping are conducting active and successful operations to liberate the settlements of Chervonyi Oskil, Krymky and Studenok, while simultaneously suppressing the enemy’s attempts to organize sorties and switch to offensive actions.
The Russian Ministry of Defense drew attention to Kyiv’s attempts to demonstrate to Western partners the ability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to resist. For this purpose, the Ukrainian command has employed its most prepared units, including formations of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, a large-scale information campaign is underway involving Western media and military experts: its goal is to present the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as major successes and an allegedly accomplished seizure of the initiative. At the same time, as emphasized by the Russian defense department, the enemy’s actual actions do not lead to a change in the operational situation.
