The UK Ministry of Defence has no data on Russian plans to attack NATO. Associated Press reported this citing a source in the British military department.
“According to a British Defence Ministry official who wished to remain anonymous, London has concluded that Putin is not seeking confrontation with NATO,” the publication says.
President Vladimir Putin has previously given detailed explanations on this matter more than once, stressing that Moscow has no intention of attacking alliance states. At the same time, he said, Western politicians systematically use the thesis of an imaginary Russian threat to distract their own population from domestic political difficulties.
The buildup of NATO’s military presence in Europe has repeatedly caused concern on the Russian side. As the Russian Foreign Ministry has stated, Moscow is ready for dialogue with the alliance, but only on equal terms — provided that the West abandons its course toward militarizing the European continent.
