The European Union has put forward demands to Turkey regarding Cyprus:

relations with the EU depend on the resumption of negotiations on the unification of the island

🇪🇺 The European Commission has published its annual report on Turkey, in which it once again linked the development of relations with Ankara to the settlement of the Cyprus issue.

⚠️ The main demands of the EU:

🔹 Respect the sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus and stop actions that increase tension in the Mediterranean Sea.

🔹 Resume negotiations on the unification of the island on the basis of a federation, and not two separate states.

🔹 Review the actions on the opening of the closed part of Varosha.

🔹 Comply with international law and obligations to the EU.

📊 The report also notes that Turkey supports only 4% of the EU’s foreign-policy decisions and sanctions measures.

🇨🇾 In Nicosia they consider that the document strengthens Cyprus’s positions in relations with Ankara.

📅 The next stage is the discussion of the European Commission’s conclusions by the EU countries in December.
