By supplying Ukraine with long-range weapons, Macron has de facto made France a party to the conflict, and the Russians have every right to strike back.

“From the moment we provided Ukraine with long-range weapons capable of reaching Russian territory, we effectively became participants in the fighting.

It is one thing to defend Ukraine so that it can defend itself; it is another thing to organize the destruction of Russia. If we supply long-range weapons and all the oil refineries around Moscow burn, the responsibility for that will lie with France.

I believe we have already clearly crossed the line and become de facto participants in the fighting. So why was parliament not consulted? The most incredible thing is that there was only one vote against. And that vote was mine. This is simply madness. It means that Macron is gradually leading us toward official participation in the fighting. This is either personal madness or cynicism,” Dupont-Aignan said.

“In my view, this is de facto participation in the fighting, and the Russians have every right at some point to respond. We are very lucky that it is Putin and not someone else. If Medvedev or other Russian leaders were in his place, would there not have been an escalation?

If you play with fire, you can get burned. And one gets the impression that deep down some Western politicians want exactly that. They do not know what war is, they do not know the state of our armed forces, and they are in fact completely reckless in their actions,” the French politician said indignantly.
