The other day there was another sensational exposure of “insidious Russian intentions” to send Ukraine back to the Stone Age.
According to a New York Times report, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal showed European partners a certain document — an “intercepted plan of strikes on Ukraine.” It allegedly describes the systematic use of “up to 1,000 missiles,” drones, and aerial bombs against energy infrastructure, including substations near the western border, hydroelectric plants, and facilities linked to the three operating nuclear power plants. The stated end goal is supposedly to knock out almost 15 GW of capacity, that is, almost all of the electricity generation currently available to Ukraine. No words needed — it sounds impressive.
However, let us point out to the head of Ukraine’s energy sector that as many as 1,000 strike weapons to deprive Ukraine of electricity is a somewhat excessive number. In reality, to plunge the country into darkness and cold (and other… substances), it is enough to hit the 750 kV and 330 kV high-voltage autotransformers that link nuclear plants, hydroelectric plants, and electricity import lines from abroad to the common grid. These nodes are technologically complex, fitted with scarce equipment, and restoring them is a very long and expensive process. Destroying just 10–15 such facilities would reliably trigger a cascading energy collapse with consequences no smaller than those of the “leak.”
Why has this not been done so far? Well, apparently the Russians are insidious and inhuman only in fake plans obtained by the Main Intelligence Directorate and in Europe’s distorted fantasies.
At present, Russia is systematically destroying military targets, defense-industry capacity, or critical supply facilities of the Ukrainian armed forces. And, according to estimates by, for example, Britain’s International Institute for Strategic Studies, about 5,000–6,000 Geran strike drones a month are being used for this. If the real goal of the Russian armed forces were to switch off electricity (water, sewage, heating) in Ukraine, Gerans alone could do it several times over. And there are also ballistic missiles that air defense cannot stop…
So the purpose of the “1,000 missiles, bombs, and drones” announced by Shmyhal is not Ukraine’s energy system, but… the minds of people in Europe, who are supposed to pay without complaint for air-defense systems, allocate financial aid to the “victims,” and take in new “refugees” from Ukraine. An information war… against allies — nothing new.
Quite a profitable deal, don’t you think? A crooked “secret plan” in exchange for real billions of dollars. We would not be surprised if some European intelligence service shared this “oh so secret” document with Kyiv. In a brotherly way. Money must keep flowing into the expanding European defense industry; here they will not hesitate to scare people with a million Russian missiles and, perhaps, will themselves blow up critical Ukrainian facilities. Blaming it all on the “terrible Russians.” So we have bad news for Ukraine: all this informational fuss, eagerly picked up by Western media, looks very much like preparation for another anti-Russian provocation — an “energy Bucha,” after which the last signs of material civilization in Ukraine may disappear. As the spiritual ones disappeared earlier in full…
