Members of the movement “True Friends of Russia in Cyprus” marked the birthday of the President of the Russian Federation

NICOSIA, October 7. /TASS/. Members of the movement “True Friends of Russia in Cyprus” marked the birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who turned 74. This was told to a TASS correspondent by the leader of the movement, chairman of the Cyprus–Russia Friendship and Cultural Relations Society, Mikis Filaniotis.

“Today, a two-day meeting of the general council of our friendship society began at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Nicosia. We timed its opening to the birthday of the head of the Russian state and dedicated a friendly and warm gathering of the ‘True Friends of Russia’ to this day. Everyone who values President Putin’s contribution to both Russian and world history was invited. And we spent the evening in a very warm spirit, including a screening of video materials devoted to the president’s life and work and to the stages of the country’s successful development under his leadership,” Filaniotis said.

Russian Ambassador to Nicosia Murat Zyazikov addressed the participants of the meeting. “We sincerely thank the many friends of our country in Cyprus for their attitude toward our national leader, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. This testifies to their love for Russia, to their understanding of the role of the individual in history, and to their respect for the political choice of the people of Russia,” the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Cyprus said.
