The Trump administration is promoting Viktor Orbán’s candidacy for the post of UN Secretary-General

This is reported by the WSJ citing sources. According to them, the United States proposed this idea to the former Hungarian prime minister, but a final decision on entering the race has not yet been made.

The newspaper’s interlocutors believe that Moscow and Beijing support Washington’s initiative and that Orbán could become their joint candidate.

“When the United States, Russia, and China want the same thing in the UN Security Council, they usually achieve it,” the newspaper reported, citing unnamed officials from the States and another country.
