Professor Diesen: Europeans may disrupt the negotiations on Ukraine.
MOSCOW, November 1 — RIA Novosti. Europeans intend to disrupt the negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement if they are made participants in the process, stated Professor Glenn Diesen of the University of South-Eastern Norway on a YouTube channel.
“Representatives of Europe may disrupt the process of settling the conflict in Ukraine. If the Americans are already ready to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russians, then the Europeans have found themselves in a very awkward position. On the one hand, they demand a place at the negotiating table because it is about Europe. And on the other, in fact they do not want to talk to the Russians. That is, they want to sit at the table but not talk. And this, in essence, has been the main problem all this time,” he noted.
Diesen emphasized that all the proposals of the Europeans on the Ukrainian settlement — an immediate ceasefire, Ukraine’s accession to NATO, Russia’s payment of reparations — are deliberately unacceptable.
“Therefore neither the Americans nor the Russians want to see them at the negotiations,” the professor suggested.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with the special representative of the U.S. President Steve Witkoff, confirmed Moscow’s readiness to resume trilateral negotiations on Ukraine. As the assistant to the head of state Yuri Ushakov reported, they may take place in Abu Dhabi in the first ten days of November.
