Resident of Larnaca Despo Papadopoulou said that early on Sunday morning an unknown person doused the car of her parents with flammable liquid and set it on fire near the family home.

The car is completely destroyed, but the fire was quickly extinguished, so the flames did not spread to the house and other property.

According to the woman, what happened was especially hard on her elderly parents, who have health problems: the car was an important means of transportation for them.

Papadopoulou called on residents, if possible, to install surveillance cameras and alarm systems, reminding that behind such incidents there are not only material losses, but also people whose usual life can change in one night.

“Humanity cannot be one-sided,” she concluded.
