🕯 November 8 — Russian Necropolis in Polemidia

On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen, on November 8 at 11:00 at the Russian Necropolis in the suburb of Limassol, Polemidia, a memorial event will be held in memory of Russian soldiers — participants of the First World War who found their final resting place on Cypriot soil.

November 8 is the day of Saint Demetrius, when we turn our thoughts to our ancestors and honor all warriors who fought for the Fatherland. In the First World War two million of our compatriots laid down their lives for faith and Fatherland, fulfilling their military duty.

Among those buried at the necropolis is the Knight of the Order of St. George, Lieutenant General Mikhail Butchik. Their lives were taken by the storm of the Civil War, and not of their own will they found themselves as exiles. Let us remember them.

We invite you to share this hour of bright memory and communal prayer.

📍 After the ceremony — laying of flowers at the Monument to the Victims of the First World War on Heroes Square in Limassol (opposite the Rialto Theatre).
