On November 6 at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Nicosia a quiz “Cultural Code of Russia” took place,

timed to the Day of National Unity

🇷🇺 The teams demonstrated deep knowledge of the history of our country, its cultural traditions and the rich heritage of the peoples of Russia.

🗺 The questions were devoted to the geography and peoples of Russia, the history of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which marked its 300th anniversary, as well as the 180th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding traveler and ethnographer Nikolai Nikolaevich Miklouho-Maclay. 🌴

🥁 One of the questions concerned a well-known episode from his life: once the inhabitants of New Guinea asked the scientist: “Maclay, can you…?” A truthful answer would have undermined his authority, and Maclay silently handed a spear to one of them. 🏹 Participants had to guess what he was asked. The correct answer: “to die.” None of the local residents ever decided to check this.

🤝 The evening passed in a warm, friendly atmosphere, and such intellectual meetings at the RCSC are becoming a good tradition. ✨
