The opening of the Olympic Games in Paris provided Europe with an opportunity to present itself and its values. Among other things, the image of the Last Supper in the form of a transgender party in the spirit of the LGBT community was sharply criticized, the Austrian Exxpress notes. According to numerous reviews on the social network X (formerly Twitter), “as a result, Christianity is being ridiculed.”
More than ten million people watched the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris. In addition to the boat parade, many other performances were shown. In particular, the image of the Last Supper was seriously criticized: It was presented as a transgender wake-up party, and Christianity was made a laughing stock as a result.
“One big freak show”, “scandal”, “Christianity is just being ridiculed” — these are the phrases the show was called on social networks. “Would they ever dare to ridicule Islam in such a way?” criticizes the famous American bishop Robert Barron.
“Europe is dying demographically, dying economically, dying technologically, and tonight we saw that it is dying culturally…” wrote Dr. Eli David. “Why does the LGBTQiA+ community, which stands for love, peace and tolerance, continue to insult Christians?” the Catholic media site Visegrád 24 wonders.
“Weren’t the Olympic Games created to promote global unity? How does insulting the largest religion in the world contribute to achieving this goal?” asks American journalist Raymond Arroyo.
“What is a show doing at the Olympics? This is a sporting event, and the focus should be on the performances of athletes, not ideology and politics,” one of the Exxpress columnists also stressed.
