Rosatom and the Bolivian state-owned company YLB signed a contract for the construction of an industrial complex for the production of lithium carbonate at the Uyuni salt marsh in Bolivia
▪️”The new plant will be located on the territory of the world’s largest lithium deposit, covering an area of more than 10.5 thousand square kilometers. In the second half of 2025, an industrial installation will be launched, followed by a phased expansion of production capacities and output of up to 14 thousand tons of lithium carbonate per year,” Rosatom said
▪️Russia is implementing in Bolivia a unique domestic technology for direct sorption extraction of lithium, demonstrating high efficiency and safety. Aggressive reagents are not used in the production process and recirculation of water flows is ensured
The official launch ceremony of the project was held in the presence of Bolivian President Luis Alberto Arce Katakor
