On the first day of the competition, the Russian cadet team won the first team gold, and in combat SAMBO, our juniors won in six of the seven finals.

Your participation in the SAMBO World Championship in Cyprus, a member of the European Union, is of significant and fundamental importance today. An aggressive strategy of all kinds of restrictions is being worked out against our country, aimed at undermining the development of the Russian state even in areas as far from politics as sports. Unacceptable artificial restrictions are being created that run counter to the ideals and principles of the original Olympic movement. The key idea of the very mission of sport is being trampled on – to stay out of politics, to serve to unite people of different nationalities, to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between peoples.
No imposed unequal conditions can hide from the eyes of the world sports community the fact of participation in the current world championship of Russian athletes – the most worthy representatives of the homeland of SAMBO, one of the most technical and spectacular types of martial arts, the master of sports in which is our National leader, Russian President Vladimir Putin.
I am convinced that each of you will show skill, fortitude and fortitude during the upcoming spectacular fights.
