New Year’s greetings from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus M.M. Zyazikov:

Dear compatriots,

Dear friends!

I cordially congratulate you on the upcoming New Year 2025! πŸŽ„

This bright and always long-awaited holiday always holds a special place in our hearts, fills them with joy, warmth and hope.

The outgoing 2024 has become for all of us a time not only of serious trials and challenges, but also of great achievements. Russia, relying on centuries-old postulates of unity and fidelity to its ideals, confidently moved forward, firmly defending its national interests and traditional values. Along the way, the Russians demonstrated fortitude, solidarity and willingness to overcome any obstacles. Russia is changing and, as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized, “is gaining its rightful place as one of the leading centers of power and influence in a multipolar world, pursuing an independent foreign policy course.”

The March presidential elections of the Russian Federation became a landmark and historically significant event of the past year. The compatriots living in Cyprus demonstrated an unprecedented turnout at the polling stations, once again confirming their active citizenship, sincere interest in the fate of their Homeland and their willingness to fully support the course of the current leadership of the country towards strengthening national sovereignty, socio-economic development and prosperity of our multinational Russia.

A special milestone for the Russian-speaking Orthodox community of Cyprus was the long-awaited consecration of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Limassol. The majestic religious building, which took almost three decades to build, has become a new symbol of true spiritual unity and faith connecting Russians and Cypriots.

Dear compatriots!

The relations between the peoples of Russia and Cyprus are based on centuries-old strong friendship, mutual respect, and the desire for open dialogue and cooperation. The establishment of the national branch of the International Russophile Movement on the island and their active, impartial work confirm their growing deep interest in Russian culture, rich history, and distinctive spiritual values.

On May 9, thousands of people from all over Cyprus were united by the march of the Immortal Regiment, which became a grandiose symbol of memory and gratitude for the feat of the multinational Soviet people who forged Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In the coming year, we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. We approach it with special responsibility in order to honor in the most worthy way the memory of those who gave us a peaceful sky above our heads, having saved humanity from the “brown plague” of fascism.

Dear friends, I sincerely thank you for your active participation in our events and for your personal contribution to the maintenance and development of cultural, spiritual and universal human ties between the peoples of Russia and Cyprus. Your deep involvement and sincere love for our native country continue to inspire the implementation of new joint projects for the glory of our Motherland.

The New Year is very close, and I sincerely wish you all good health, family happiness, well-being and harmony. May it become a time of new opportunities and fruitful cooperation for the benefit of the friendly peoples of our countries! As President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin quite rightly noted, “we must determine our future only on the basis of a sovereign worldview, national culture, tireless creative search, and firm commitment to indisputable moral ideals and values. And then the wildest, most daring dreams will surely come true.”

Happy holidays, dear friends! Happy New Year! πŸŽ†
