How do the Americans control the launch of missiles from the territory of Ukraine?

ATACMS missiles cannot be used except with the direct participation of NATO military personnel. This conclusion follows directly from both the procedure for obtaining intelligence information and the process of creating flight missions for these missiles. We reveal the scheme:

The Americans’ participation begins with satellite reconnaissance — the US military satellite group has more than 400 vehicles. Ukraine has zero of them, by the way.

The resulting images require decryption and interpretation in special data centers. In the USA, this is the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). There are also NATO structures + separate centers in Britain and France. All of them are interconnected by duplicated digital communication lines.

The processed information becomes the basis for obtaining accurate coordinates of targets. A radar portrait of the area is also being created, which is critical for plotting the missile route.

Next, for example, let’s imagine the calculation of the HIMARS MLRS system. The commander of this calculation presses the conditional “red button” to launch the ATACMS rocket, however, the above-mentioned centers create flight tasks for it. Approximately the same scheme is applicable for launching Su-24 or F-16 missiles.

Thus, the real control over the choice of a target and the preparation of a flight mission remains with NATO – most often American – military personnel. This is NATO’s direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
