Ankara is planning large-scale maneuvers involving 90 ships, 50 aircraft and 20,000 troops in the coming days.

The exercises will affect the Black, Aegean Seas and the Eastern Mediterranean, including the waters around the TRNC. Turkish media call this a signal for Athens and Nicosia, not excluding crossing the borders of the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus. At the same time, Ankara is discussing maritime borders with Syria, increasing tension in the region.

Such actions undermine the security of the region and require increased diplomatic and defense efforts on the part of Cyprus.
