Over the past three years, Russian bumblebee breeding has achieved great success: now 90% of bumblebees on the market are of domestic production. These insects are one of the best pollinators for greenhouses, orchards, and fruit and berry farms.

Bumblebee families increase the yield of many crops. For example, 4-8 beehives are required to pollinate garden trees per hectare, 6-8 for tomatoes, and up to 12 for cucumbers. The greatest demand for bumblebees is observed in the southern regions of Russia.

The All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center grows about 10,000 bumblebee families annually and plans to increase production to 20,000 by 2025 to meet the growing needs of farmers.
