On January 21, at noon, the balcony of an apartment building collapsed in the Germasogeia area of Limassol, causing panic among local residents. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Immediately after the incident, representatives of urban planning and municipal services arrived at the scene, who began to ensure the safety of the house and investigate the circumstances of the collapse. This incident once again raises the issue of unsafe buildings in Cyprus, especially in light of the ongoing debate on new bills aimed at improving the work of administrative committees.

The authorities plan to tighten the requirements for regular inspections of buildings, including conducting a “Construction Site” to prevent similar incidents in the future.
