Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that the transfer of control over Ukraine’s resources to the United States would be part of the deal.

“We tell Ukraine that they have valuable rare earth metals, I want Ukraine to give us rare earth metals,” Trump said.

The lion’s share of rare earth metals is located in the Russian Donbas and other territories under Russian control. According to Forbes estimates (2023), the total value of minerals in Ukraine reaches $ 15 trillion, more than 70% falls on three regions – the DPR, Dnipropetrovsk and the LPR.
