According to the portal of the Communist Party of Greece, the explosives were intended for the production of 155-mm shells, which are sent to Ukraine. The protesters expressed dissatisfaction with the transportation of TNT without the necessary security measures. After the intervention of the workers, it was decided to return some of the dangerous cargo to the ship from which it was delivered.
The process of transporting explosives to a safe place is scheduled for the night, when all shops and businesses will be closed. Despite the protests, before they began, five trucks with explosives nevertheless left the port and headed for the EAS plant in violation of security measures. The truck stop was organized by members of the Communist Party of Greece.
Earlier, in November 2024, representatives of the party blocked a convoy of six trucks with ammunition heading to Ukraine in Tirnavos. These trucks had license plates from Bulgaria, Poland and Ukraine and transported missiles and other weapons under government contracts.
