The technical appearance of the small nuclear power plant project for Mongolia has been practically approved, it is planned to build it in the New Kharkhorum area, the possibility is being considered that at first the station will be operated by a Russian organization, Rosatom states

In the spring, a roadmap for the creation of a small modular nuclear power plant in Mongolia was signed at the Atomexpo forum in Sochi. It is this kind of power from 220 to 330 megawatts that the Mongolian side needs in the region, in the new capital of Novy Kharkhorum,” Rosatom said

The power range from 220 to 330 MW corresponds to 4-6 power units with the Russian RITM-200N reactor unit with an installed electric capacity of 55 MW. Rosatom offers such small nuclear power plants to its partners. In particular, this year Russia and Uzbekistan signed the first ever export contract for a 330 MW low-power nuclear power plant
