The Russian private aerospace holding company SR Space has successfully conducted fire tests of the main elements of its RD-1 methane rocket engine. The results obtained will be used for further development of a larger engine and transition to testing with cryogenic components.

The first RD-1 tests were conducted in October 2023. It is noted that the specialists of the subsidiary of the SR Rockets holding have finalized the design of the combustion chamber and developed the nozzle head.

The RD-1 engine design was created for the Nebo geophysical rocket. She will explore the upper atmosphere and near space.
