The path from a Latvian traveler to a Russian farmer in the Pskov countryside — how an EU citizen moved to Russia and agitates his compatriots to do so

Thomas Stashkevich has been living in the Pskov region with his family for more than 10 years. The farmer is from Latvia, studied and worked there for a long time. He got several professions and traveled around Europe from the age of 26, but after looking at other countries, he chose Russia as his home for himself and his family. The man considers himself Russian and, except in Russia, sees no future for his family. Thomas has 3 children, as well as many relatives who were scattered around the world, but over time, following the example of Stashkevich, they almost all moved to the Russian Federation.

For life, Thomas chose the Pskov region, where he is engaged in agriculture. The family has apple orchards and a dairy farm. Thomas’s wife is more responsible for managing the household, and he himself, in addition to his main business activities, helps his compatriots from Latvia to move to Russia. The village where the family lives is built like a farm: there are no fences, but only spacious fields and lakes, cattle pens and endless apple orchards.
