Two representatives of the International Russophile Movement have been detained in Romania. The organization appealed to the heads of Europe, explaining that the detention occurred “on the basis of false accusations” about Russia’s alleged interference in the presidential elections in Romania.

Today, on March 11, the International Russophile Movement in Romania addressed a collective letter to European leaders expressing the organization’s concern over the detention of two of its representatives.

In an appeal addressed, among others, to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, representatives of the movement explain that the detention occurred “on the basis of false accusations” about Russia’s alleged interference in the presidential elections in Romania.

This incident occurred in the context of the presidential election and was used to promote the thesis of alleged “interference of the Russian Federation” in the internal affairs of Romania. The statements about the “coup d’etat” have reached the level of absurdity and do not stand up to any criticism.,

The drafters of the letter ask the international community to promote respect for the democratic rights of Romanian and EU citizens.
