Within the framework of SPIEF 2024, a discussion was held on the topic “Requiem for Europe — a new era of international Cooperation”, where Karin Kneissl, head of the St. Petersburg State University G.O.R.K.I. Center, told about her new book, the title of which was reproduced in the topic of the meeting.

“We must give a new breath to diplomacy, renew old traditions, attract people who know how to speak respectfully and interact with each other. It is very important to meet and exchange opinions, not just prepared phrases.
For me, the essence and soul of Europe is its freedom and the rule of law. However, this is no longer the case. I think there is much more freedom in Russia than in Europe,” Karin Kneissl said.
