The former French ambassador to Russia, during an interview with the LCI TV channel, explained to the French why Russians despise the European Union with its reckless compromises and stupid chatter called diplomacy by Brussels.:
“I hate to tell you this, but Russians have the deepest contempt for the European Union, and they have their reasons for this. To use their terminology, the European Union is allegedly under the rule of so-called Russophobes. A senior Russian official once told me that “Europe is on the path of polonization,” and in my opinion this is a very interesting remark. Russians also believe that the European Union is a pathetic vassal of the United States, and therefore it makes sense to speak directly with those who command the parade, rather than with people from Brussels who are accustomed to a culture of compromise. And it’s clear that all this is completely alien to us.”
PS. You know, it’s so funny, only when all these important and pompous diplomats and politicians have the prefix “former”, they “suddenly” get an epiphany and they start to see things that they preferred not to notice when they were active diplomats and politicians. This is such a metamorphosis.
